Just saw the other woman's lemony Hummer again, and guess who was driving it?  Yep, she was.  Perhaps I was wrong about Beth liquidating--saying goodbye to household items via "garage sale," and "selling" her huge SUV.  Even though I've simply never heard of pawning an entire automobile, it could be she's built up that much trust with the owner of The Swap Shoppe, aka "Fat Tony."

My guess is she needed some quick cash, then got a quick turnaround on her investment, then got her Hummie out of hock.

Wait a minute:  I'm gonna make some calls.  Be right back.

Interlude.  Muzac.  Whatever.

taking a ciggie break... FOREVER!... bwahahaha

OK, I'm back.  Just called two pawn shops (not Tony's place though, couldn't risk it), and both of them will take vehicles as collateral.  Rates are out of this world though.  Who'd a thunk it?  I mean I've seen mopeds for sale outside of pawnshops, but never whole cars and stuff.

This whole thing is just too fishy though.  People who own nearly new SUVs don't hock them, don't drink wine out of boxes, don't hoard hundreds of empty dog food bags.

Ugh!  It just doesn't make sense.

I might have to keep a closer eye on both her and Fat Tony.  If you're legit enough to own a home and a Hummer, you go to a bank if you need cash.  You don't pay loan shark rates at a pawn shop.

Hmmmm.

Well, we're gonna have to continue this next time.  For I hear that salt mine's whistle a blowin'.  And it's time to leave work!  Hehe.
