Between Fish Scanning And Happenstance

Of necessity I'm kicking off this update in a somewhat... hesitant... manner.  Is it a squib or a knuckleball?

Don't worry:  it's not you.  But it's not me either.  It's the topic.

Yes, this series of updates might seem nebulous at first.  But since journalistic integrity has been and continues to be one of my higher goals, I think what I'm driving at will soon enough become crystal clear.

It's four-handed.  On the one hand, there's what a person says.  Next, what a person does.  Then, what a person's whole movement is about.  And finally, everything else.

As you approach the conclusion of this sequence, if you think I missed something, see:  "And finally, everything else."  Unless there's some rip in the time/space continuum I'm not aware of, what you think is "missing" should be there.

Now, one might sense facetiousness in the above, as if I were 1) needlessly and obsequiously attempting to dodge litigation before the fact, or 2) afraid of being eagerly pursued by a zealous mob, a mob stoked by heartfelt superstition, slowed by clutch of feathers and cauldron of tar.

First, there's no bounty to be had; hence, no lawyers.  Second, I don't mean to be flip or facetious; it's just that it would be nice to be understood by even a few of those willing to think outside the mob.

But if these words fall on blind eyes, so be it.

This is simply an exercise about honesty.  Can one be honest with oneself?  If this form of honesty--"self-honesty," if you will--can occur, is it important or necessary for it to occur?

The first step in this exercise is to visit--or revisit--my take on a famous guy, a guy who talked one way, but--in my opinion--walked a different way.  It's called "Fish Scanning With JC" and it's here.

Next week, or soon, I will finish this series.

I would continue now, but I think it's best if my readers actually do take time out of their busy lives to acquaint (or reacquaint) themselves with the whole "what he said, what he did" part of this before moving on to the "what his whole movement was about" part.

If I continued unspooling this piece now, some of you I'm sure would be tempted beyond the point of resistance to stay put.  And you really oughtta "scan some fish" first... or do a little re-scanning.  It's not gonna hurt.

Don't fret:  I'll return to this trope.  I won't forget.

OK.  See ya next week.
